Attentive Visual Tracking

چکیده
The research reported here addresses the problem of detecting and tracking independently moving objects from a moving observer in real time, using corners as object tokens. Local image-plane constraints are employed to solve the correspondence problem removing the need for a 3D motion model. The approach relaxes the restriciive static-world assumption conventionally made, and is therefore capable of tracking independently moving and deformable objects. The technique is rovel in that feature detection and tracking is restricted to areas likely to contain meaningful image structure. Feature instantiation regions are defined bom a combination of odometry information and a limited knowledge of the operating scenario. The algorithms developed have been tested on real image sequences taken from typical driving scenarios. Preliminary experiments on a parallel (Transputer) architecture indicate that real-time operation is achievable.

Delineating the neural signatures of tracking spatial position and working memory during attentive tracking.
In the attentive tracking task, observers track multiple objects as they move independently and unpredictably among visually identical distractors. Although a number of models of attentive tracking implicate visual working memory as the mechanism responsible for representing target locations, no study has ever directly compared the neural mechanisms of the two tasks. In the current set of exper...

A nonlinear estimation problem motivated by attentive vision in the human visual system is considered. In human vision, eye and head motion are used to bring objects of interest into the high resolution foveal regions of the retina. Accurate estimates of target position are thereby attained in certain target tracking situations using sensors (eyes) having nonuniform and mostly low acuity. This ...
متن کاملCortical fMRI activation produced by attentive tracking of moving targets.
Attention can be used to keep track of moving items, particularly when there are multiple targets of interest that cannot all be followed with eye movements. Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) was used to investigate cortical regions involved in attentive tracking. Cortical flattening techniques facilitated within-subject comparisons of activation produced by attentive tracking, visua...

Interactive applications that make use of eye tracking have traditionally been based on command-and-control. Applications that make more subtle use of eye gaze have recently become increasingly popular in the domain of attentive interfaces that adapt their behaviour based on the visual attention of the user. We provide a review of the main systems and application domains where this genre of int...
متن کاملHierarchical Attentive Recurrent Tracking
Class-agnostic object tracking is particularly difficult in cluttered environments as target specific discriminative models cannot be learned a priori. Inspired by how the human visual cortex employs spatial attention and separate “where” and “what” processing pathways to actively suppress irrelevant visual features, this work develops a hierarchical attentive recurrent model for single object ...
متن کاملThe role of visual working memory in attentive tracking of unique objects.
When tracking moving objects in space humans usually attend to the objects' spatial locations and update this information over time. To what extent do surface features assist attentive tracking? In this study we asked participants to track identical or uniquely colored objects. Tracking was enhanced when objects were unique in color. The benefit was greater when the distance between distractors...
